WHAT WAS HIDDEN BENETH IT-A RESTORATION
Not every renovation begins with inspiration.
Sometimes it begins with uncovering what should have been done correctly the first time.
At first glance, this home appeared complete. The finishes were new enough. The rooms were functional enough. But beneath the surface, the story was different.
Warped flooring ran through parts of the home. The shower pan in one bathroom had failed so severely that the subfloor beneath it was beginning to give way. Materials had been installed hastily. Details overlooked. What looked finished wasn’t necessarily built to last.
And that changed the direction of the project entirely.
This renovation was never just about aesthetics. It became about restoration.
Before selecting a single finish, we slowed the process down and addressed what mattered first: integrity. Floors were stripped and refinished instead of replaced, allowing the natural beauty of the white oak to emerge again. The damaged shower was rebuilt properly from the foundation up, with a true mud bed, marble surfaces, and brass fixtures chosen to bring warmth and softness back into the space.
In the kitchen, the transformation was equally intentional.
The original gray cabinetry and cold finishes gave way to muted olive cabinetry layered with creamy Taj Mahal quartzite, marble tile, warm brass hardware, and lighting selected to create atmosphere rather than simply illumination. The goal was never to make the room louder. It was to make it feel calmer. Richer. More grounded.
That distinction matters to us.
At Chapel & Cypress, we believe luxury is not defined by excess. It’s defined by thoughtfulness. By craftsmanship. By restraint. By the feeling a home gives you when every surface, proportion, material, and detail has been considered carefully.
Some homes do not need to be completely reinvented.
They simply need someone willing to uncover what was hidden beneath them and rebuild with intention.
Because a home should never simply look finished.
It should feel right.
If you’re considering a renovation or new home and want spaces that feel deeply considered: not rushed, replicated, or trend-driven, we would love to hear your story.
Because the best homes are not simply designed beautifully.
They are rebuilt, restored, and refined with intention.
